'Love Poems'
with Kim Addonizio
May 29th - Clapham Library
"Love makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place."
–Zora Neale Hurston
Crawl out and make some time for this workshop on love poetry! In this generative and craft class, we’ll explore all kinds of love: familial, romantic, passionate, platonic—and discuss how other poets have tendered their thoughts and sentiments, with an eye to what we can learn from them to inspire our own work. Be ready to write, and maybe to create a poem for a special someone. Whether you’re drowning in love or searching for it, come write and share your thoughts and observations about this essential human emotion.

'Writing and Memory'
with Kim Addonizio
May 30th - Clapham Library
“You own everything that happened to you.”—Anne Lamott
How do you navigate the past in order to explore the rich ground of your life experiences in language? This workshop will focus on writing your memories into poetry (or prose) with discussion, examples, and in-class prompts designed to help you tell some of the stories that have taught you, changed you, or even obsessed you. We’ll generate a lot of ideas for work and look at some ways to structure your material. You’ll leave this class with new drafts, as well as several seeds you can nurture for future poems.
